Cabinet Material
All our cabinets are made from 18mm melamine pre-finished MDF board - generally gloss white. Cabinet backs are also 18mm MDF for strength and consistency. We use MDF (Medium density fibreboard) as opposed to particle board for its superior finish and strength. All visible edges are fitted with 1mm PVC edgetape (cabinets can also be made from a specific colour to give the kitchen extra uniqueness). The high quality of materials we use ensures your cabinets will last for years to come.
Doors, drawer fronts and panels
Melamine: a pre-finished board, usually 18mm MDF with low-pressure laminate on both faces. A wide range of colours are available from Melamine manufacturers such as Melteca, Bestwood, Prime Panels or Panelart. Exposed edges are finished with 2mm PVC edgetape to match the board colour.
Thermoform: doors and panels are vacuum-formed made using single face 18mm Melamine board. The face and edges are covered with a seamless 0.4mm heat-bonded vinyl membrane.
A wide choice of colours and Arborform door designs are available from Arborline.
Lacquer: 2-pack paint finish applied to bare MDF. This option allows you to design a kitchen in any paint colour you desire (usually with a satin finish). Lacquer allows more freedom with design, be it a modern minimalist look or a country style kitchen.
Timber: for the traditional look timber kitchens can be crafted using Arborline timber cabinet doors. Choose from a vast range of door styles and designs in a variety of timbers.
If you wish you can also specify glass or aluminum doors. Toe kick materials may also be specified (e.g. the same as existing door style or laminate with aluminum for contrast). Different materials combinations are certainly a possibility and we are happy to advise you on this.
